I was just waiting for this to happen. But not now. Not after a mere three months.
It just bordered on ridiculous. I mean, three paltry months is nothing. Not when it comes to running state administrations, five states to be exact.
Yep, it has been three full months that five states, Kedah, Penang, Perak, Selangor and Kelantan, are now under the Pakatan Rakyat rule. Things were done differently. Unheard of policies were introduced. Scams and empty files were revealed. The word transparency was being spouted at every corner.
I don’t know about other states, but over here in Penang, our Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, is ever so fond of the word CAT – which stands for competency, accountability and transparency.
But I digress. Let me get back to what I started to blog about…It is this very disturbing piece of news I found in Malaysiakini:
PAS Youth is keen on implementing hardline Islamic laws that ban gambling, limiting sale of liquor and introducing dress code for office workers in all Pakatan-ruled states.
In taking the first step towards introducing such laws, PAS Youth will organise a seminar in August to discuss the possibility of doing so.
It’s all very well if they implement that in Kelantan, after all, they have done that ages ago. But to even suggest implementing it in Penang?
“We are aware that it is not going to be easy in states like Penang and Perak where PAS is a minority but we will push for it,” said Azman, according to Bernama.
Then the dickhead went on to say this (all excerpts from Malaysiakini:
He also claimed that the proposed laws would not affect the “good relations” between PAS and other Pakatan coalition parties.
Azman said DAP would object to the youth wing’s proposals but believed there was room to implement the proposed laws as not all leaders in DAP have the same position.
“If we look at the DAP leadership in Penang, they are very open and tolerant. They also raise the allowances of religious teachers,” he said.
Sure, the DAP leaders in Penang are very tolerant and etc, etc. But heck, what makes him think that they will even consider this stupid proposal to impose hardline Islamic laws here in Penang?
Okay, I don’t mind the part to ban gambling coz gambling brings more grief than anything but I absolutely do not agree with the limiting of alcohol and dress codes for office workers.
WTF!
Just three months into ruling five states, via the newly formed Pakatan Rakyat, and they have started getting ideas in their heads! Can you imagine what it will be like if they were to really take over the federal government and start getting these ideas in their heads three days into it?
Look, I am all for the DAP and heck, even the PKR politicians in running our government but these PAS fellas really need to either wake up to the modern world or get lost. Fuzk, we didn’t vote the blardy Opposition just because we want hardline Islamic laws here in Penang. When will they ever learn to respect the cultures and traditions and rights of other people, especially the NON-Muslims?
Fuzk, I DO NOT want to wear a tudung to work! I ABSOLUTELY abhor the idea that the government tells me what I can or cannot wear to work.
And I do enjoy the occasional glass of bitter or some red. Even some white with seafood and once in a while, some bubbly for celebration.
Shit, you want to impose such laws, impose it on only Muslims, don’t include us NON-Muslims! It is after all Islamic laws meant for Muslims! How would you like it if WE impose OUR religious laws on you?
No sense of respect for our basic human rights at all!
To give Lim Guan Eng credit, it is fortunate that he has never once openly admit that Penang is run by a Pakatan Rakyat government. It was always a DAP-PKR government. Not Pakatan Rakyat which consists of DAP, PKR and PAS.
I had always wondered why his reluctance considering he seemed pretty ‘buddy buddy’ with some of the PAS fellas when they come a-visiting. Now I know why. Guan Eng probably knew this was coming and had wanted to steer clear of it.
However, I feel that now the PAS Youth has spoken up, he will have to say something about this. If anything, to allay the fears of EVERYONE in Penang. As for the other states, well, it depends on PKR’s leader Anwar Ibrahim.
Judging from the strong stance that Guan Eng often takes when it comes to basic human rights issues and issues he strongly believe in, I think he will not even consider such draconian laws to be implemented here in Penang.
However, he may have to go about it delicately cause Mr Dickhead has sinisterly proclaimed:
Azman also issued a cryptic warning that Pakatan coalition parties cannot stand on their own.
“PAS cannot move on its own, neither can DAP nor PKR in Selangor. All of us have to support each other,” he added.
If that is not a barely veiled threat, I do not know what is. So, three months into the biggest victory ever for the Opposition and now it begins to show that the Pakatan Rakyat coalition is just NOT going to work.
It is obvious that DAP, PKR and PAS will never be able to work together. Even now, PAS is trying to act all UMNO-ish by giving veiled threats to DAP and PKR to make them ‘toe the line’.
I say, DAP and PKR can go ahead and stand on their own without any problems. Why form the Pakatan Rakyat at all? So that they could grab the federal government? What’s the point of grabbing and winning over the federal government when you are hardly united?
It is obvious that with this stunt by PAS, all is not rosy and peachy keen in Pakatan Rakyat.
Sigh…this is the reason why I HATE politics and seedy, shady, sneaky, lying politicians. But then, I never understand why I kept going back to read more about it. Must be my own sadistic sense wanting to torture myself with all these nonsense.
I am sure, with this, the BN and UMNO fellas must be cheering and picking on this to harp about it. Why not?
The Pakatan Rakyat, just 100 days into ruling five states, have handed them the best weapon ever to attack them.
Disunity and cracks in a coalition does not bode well at all.
I shall wait and see what Guan Eng and Anwar Ibrahim says about this. I just hope they do not remain silent on this.
By the way, anyone went to their rally in the Penang city stadium? How did it go?

Jangan takut, PAS tidak akan memaksa bukan Islam memakai tudung.
Undang-undang menghadkan pembelian arak pada 21 tahun ke atas sudah lama ada, numun ianya tidak dilaksanakan sahaja.

PAS has its dreams
About Islamic country
About Hudud Laws
About things Islamic and its ways
PAS party I am afraid
The leaders are still consistent on display
The ideals they wish to implement
If they ever rule the nation
Look PAS can’t run by itself
They don’t have the sufficient MPs
They want to give priority to its ideals
Cooperating with others
They have to give up certain objectives
Islam if these leaders learn it well
It is about compromise and submission
For the better good of everybody
In a multi-religious circle
Entertainers
They are given their roles to play
What got to do with PAS ideals?
These little chickens should go back to learn
Restudy its forms and understanding it well
For there are entertainers in God’s world too
In Holy Quran it is said
There are beautiful maidens for the pious ones
Drink wine to soothe the minds
Don’t tell me Allah forget about entertainment?
PAS Youth leaders miss the objectives
Entertainment relaxes the souls and minds
Nobody wants to stuck in the 4 walls
Listening to the crap without a gateway
To listen to some entertainers
Glorifying the souls…….
