And so the belakang masuk plot thickens…

While the Pakatan Rakyat members and followers and supporters are seething in anger and outrage over the ‘belakang masuk’ allegations against Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, many other Malaysians (especially the fence sitters) are enjoying the wonderful reading material in the form of news in the days, if not weeks, ahead.

Of course, there are those who seem to think this may bring about a lot of turmoil which could translate into violence but I seriously doubt it. Anwar has told his supporters to stay calm and furthermore, he has sought refuge at the Turkish embassy for now after receiving death threats. He is in sorta safe hands, I think…

So, in the latest development of this whole sordid tale, according to Malaysiakini, Anwar has filed a defamation suit against the fella who was supposedly sodomised. He also claimed to have

evidence implicating Musa and Abdul Gani Patail in the misconduct, including fabrication of evidence in the cases launched against him after his sacking from government 10 years ago.

Then, of course the DPM has denied that he is behind it at all over at Malaysiakini. Heck, he is VERY INNOCENT. Shame on you for thinking otherwise.

As one of the fence sitters, who are more outraged over the injustices against the people and the corruption of the ‘powers that be’, I find all these news to be great reading (and blogging) material but it also make me darn geram (frustrated) with it all.

Sure, news of sodomee is all scandalous and front-page material and interesting. But did anyone notice how it has effectively divert EVERYONE’s attention from more pressing matters at hand such as the ridiculous midterm review of the ninth Malaysian Plan?

What about the ongoing fight for freedom of speech and against the draconian ISA?

What about the escalating prices of things and the people’s struggles to make ends meet?

What about the implications of certain quarters in some high profile murder case?

What about millions of our money being spent on ridiculous trivialities?

What about everything that is wrong with this country thanks to some idiots at the top?

Really.

And imagine what all this new scandal has made Malaysia look like from the outside?

In the very nasty and brutish world of today, where so-called democracy is extremely corrupted by such as Mugabe and Bush, this facade had to be expected.

In a year or two when the Malaysian government is wondering why direct foreign investment is lower than anticipated, they should look back on this crazy farce. They may be beating Indonesia in terms of GNP per capita since independence, but not in political development.
