About life tinged with sarcasm

  • Have you booked your face?

In this age and time, it is no longer acceptable to only contact friends via handphones and SMSes or even MMS.Those are considered really outdated now. Besides there is not much you could do via the phone.

Using a handphone, there’s no poking, no giving e-gifts, no petting and feeding fluff or other weird online pets, no checking out each other’s photo albums and leaving cheeky comments, no checking out each other’s acquaintances, no direct online chats, etc, etc….

That is unless you have a PDA phone or an internet browser phone where you can access Facebook.

Yep, Facebook seems to be the new IN thing nowadays and it is gaining more popularity as compared to Friendster. And sadly, I bowed to peer pressure and signed up for an account months ago and initially could not make head or tail out of it in the beginning.

Now, we can say I am a regular pro at Facebooking. Heh. I’ve like a million applications added to my profile page including all those pet thingies and my communications with my friends are through petting (not that kind of petting, you pervert!) and feeding and playing and whatever with their fluff friends or pets or whatever-it-is.

Yep, keeping a friendship alive is so much easier nowadays. No need to talk to the person face to face, no need to call them, no need to even SMS them. So, even if it is a school friend you don’t like at all, you could add him/her to your contacts list and then promptly ignore the fella or even do nasty things to that fella such as kick, bitch slap, spit on, whatever, and the person may not even be offended!

    How cool is that.

However, it is definitely NOT cool to do whatever you do on Facebook in real life. Just imagine the scenario:

    On Facebook:

Hated enemy number one: Hey, remember me from school? Do add me to your contact list.

You: *thinks ‘hmmm..wonder how she’s doing right now. Bet she’s still single and has gotten fat and ugly’* and promptly clicked to add the person.

Hated enemy number one’s profile page, let’s call her Nishita, showed a gorgeous woman clinging onto a dashing handsome man with a diamond ring on her finger flashing and taking up the whole picture.

You: **thinks ‘Hmmpphh…show off’** Click on the poke Nishita button. Then using the Superpoke application, spit on her.

Nishita: Poked back at you and gave you a flying karate kick.

You: Bitch slap her and send Zombies after her.

Nishita: Uses her Slayer to defeat your Zombies and set Werewolves after you.

And it goes on and on, with attacks and counter attacks until you both tire of the applications.

Now, imagine how it would have turned up in real life:

You bumped into Nishita in a public place.

Nishita: Hi. Remember me from school? Do add me in your contacts list.

You: **did a double take and looked around before turning back to her** Err…you talking to me? Okay.

Nishita: *flashes her HUGE diamond ring and her 100watt fake smile*

You: Poked at her with your sharp fingernail and then spit at her.

Nishita: Hey! Whatcha do that for? **swipes spit from face and rubs the place you poked** Then she poked back at you and gave you a flying karate kick.

You: **fall onto the ground from that kick. Got up and bitch slap her** Then go searching for a zombie to set it on her but failed to find any.

Nishita: *Quickly runs away before this maniac decides to cause her more harm**

See? There’s so much you can do on Facebook that you can’t do in real life! It is really great to release stress too especially when you can bitch slap whomever you want and they will not be offended at all.

Now, excuse me, I need to go punch someone to release some stress (in Facebook of course!!).
