There is really a conspiracy!

Against me by my stupid beloved old car and my handphone. I swear that these two have made a pact to be out of order at the same time!

My car ALWAYS choose June or July to break down or demand a trip to the mechanic’s, the SAME month that I need to pay the road tax and insurance. Every single year. It never fails to meet the ‘deadline’. And usually it’s not something cheap like the lights or something.

It has to cost me at least RM100, if I am lucky, or RM300! Usually it is to replace one old part or another because well, my car is OLD. It is coming to 12 years old now and all of its parts are still the original parts so due to wear and tear, one by one of those parts needed to be replaced. And of course, my car has to choose June or July for its parts to be replaced. Not December when I have extra money (because of year end bonus). Or any other month when I DO NOT have to pay for road tax and insurance.

Shiish. And that is not bad enough. Recently, it’s been emitting some weird sounds. So, there I was minding my own business driving the old metal junk when suddenly, KREOUAKKKKKKKKK….

I thought I had hit some strange sounding monster and it is growling out its last gasping breath. Panicking, I got out of the car and looked under it. Perhaps its a dying cat or something…but there was nothing there.

No matter. Maybe my tyres grazed against some rocks, I thought. So, I got back in and start the engine and the moment I held onto the steering wheel..KREEOUUUAKKKKKK…

Craps. Look, I am no mechanic, okay. That sound was really alarming so I did the next perfectly natural thing. I got out of the car, locked it and left it there.

Then walk back up to my apartment. I was parking the car at that time and was about to shift it into a more proper position as in perfectly aligned, not an inch out of the place. But due to the horrifying sounds, I decided that leaving the car in a not so perfectly aligned position once in a while is better than the steering wheel coming out or something.

I could just imagine some unknown part springing out of the car and all the doors falling out if I insist on turning the wheels. What? The loud monster-wailing sound really sounded as if the car was about to fall apart in minutes!

Anyway, the next day I took it to the mechanic and the STUPID car was sailing along just fine. No strange sounds. No wailing monsters. Not even a dying cat sound.

The poor mechanic checked everything he could possibly think of but could not find anything amiss. Of course, being the honest chap he is, he did not charge me for that session or several other times over a period of a month or so when the car decided to emit the same strange sounds but was silent the moment I brought it to the mechanic.

Until finally, after several weeks of playing this cat and mouse game, the grinding sounds become much too loud that TH immediately drove it to the mechanic and yes, some whateveritisthatsoundslikeadyingmonster was out of order and it wasn’t even as serious as it sounded. It’s going to cost me about RM100 and yes, the battery is also almost out so that’s another RM170. Of course, I had just forked out several hundreds for the insurance and road tax.

What did I say about conspiracy???

Then my NEW three month old phone starts giving me problems. The camera is not working fine and sometimes I use the phone camera to take simple shots for my food blog. I had to send it in for repairs since it is still under warranty. Seems like I won’t be seeing it for another two weeks or so.

What a week!

By the way, the new Apple iPhone 3G was released on Friday in 70 countries BUT not in Malaysia. However, it is set to be released on July 15 and the price is supposedly below RM1,800. So, watch out for it.
