If only real life is like the Hong Kong TVB series, then it’d be full of love triangle, sibling rivalry, business competition and don’t forget the ever present family feuds. Everything will be so predictable. It’d revolve around Family A, with the two to three siblings, all earning middle class income.
Then along comes Family B which Family A has a feud with but somehow one of the Bs fell in love with the As and incidentally, a C is also in love with the A. So, there, you have your love triangle.
But then the movie will not be complete without the business competition where Families A and B are business rivals, thus the ongoing feud. Yeah, it is all about money.
Meanwhile, Family B is damn rich and some of the siblings don’t get along because the ailing father in the family is about to kick the bucket so the siblings are competiting to get their share of the fortune. All this usually ends with the old man dying, the fortune grabbed by the greedy heir, the siblings fought and got back their share of the fortune and the romance between A and B progressed while C has suddenly fell in love with D.
It all ended with everyone living happily ever after….until the second season where more conflicts surface…
So, if you apply that on real life here in Bodohland, this is what happens…
Family Ben will be this all controlling, all powerful family and has been for generations, this family has several off-springs where the eldest is Um to be followed by Ma, Ger and Mi. There are other smaller ones but they don’t play such an important role in the beginning because they were deemed as unimportant.
Along comes Family Par with only three siblings, Da, Ker and As. Of course, there’d be this power struggle between Ben and Par and extreme competition. And no, in this series, there won’t be any love triangles although there will be affairs and betrayals.
The Family Ben will stoop to all sorts of dirty tactics to defeat Par. But no matter what it did, its workers have become really angry with the little pay, a lot of work and all the top executives were getting all the credit and high income without doing anything.
So, many of the workers are going over to the Par’s to work and even some of the higher level executives are planning to go over to Par. The word is that Par is a better employer, with promises of good income and better future.
Now, panicking over the loss of their workers and possibly even some of their smaller unimportant offsprings, Ben has started going crazy. Ger which is the least greedy of the siblings also seems to have plans to leave the family business out of frustration over Ben’s treatment of all its siblings and workers. The craziness become deeper. Workers were suspended and dragged away for no reasons except with flimsy excuses that they are a threat to the whole business.
Par is planning a hostile takeover by secretly buying up the shares of Ben’s company. Knowing this, Ben is shaken and even more panicky. Ben began to suspect this offspring and that offspring and even sent some of them out to an important business trip in hopes that they would not sell their shares to Par.
Perhaps Ben looked to the wrong people. There were signs that the shares could be sold by some top executives. Already one has left. Will he join the Par family business? That is yet to be seen.
Now, we are at Episode 15 and Episode 16 is supposed to bring the surprise ending. So, we shall wait and see. Perhaps there may even be a Season Two.
