There’s no two ways about.
If you receive bad news through the post, remember to blame the postman. Shoot him if you want to and you won’t be at fault. Obviously, it is the postman’s fault for bringing you such bad, bad news. The postman should have known better than to deliver bad news to you. It’s his fault.
Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar has implied that Sin Chew Daily reporter Tan Hoon Cheng was also to be blamed for the public furore over the ‘Chinese squatter’ remark.
“The whole thing was started by her, (so) it was best that we talked to her,” Syed Hamid said in reply to a question during a press conference at the federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman today.
See? It does not matter who said the bad news or who created the bad news. The messenger is at fault here. It is all the messenger’s fault for getting the message across. It does not matter who is behind the message, the most important is to penalise the messenger for doing the job well.
Sometimes, I really wonder at the intelligence of some people…
Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar said police intelligence had ascertained that Tan’s safety was threatened because of what she had written about former Bukit Bendera Umno division chairman Datuk Ahmad Ismail.
“She had received threats recently from unknown individuals,” he said at Federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman, stressing that there was no political interest in the recent detentions.
The swift action was to ensure her safety, he said.

Wow. I didn’t know that ALL this while ISA is for the SAFETY of its detainees. What an absolutely genius idea. You are worried for the safety of some people so you proceed to arrest them and then stuff them into the lockup.
Hmm…come to think about it, behind bars is as safe as it’s gonna get, huh? So, next time you feel threatened, just go over to the police and ask them to arrest you FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR SAFETY. After all, there is no safer place than in the police lockup. You can’t get out to hurt yourself and no one else can get in except for the police. But then, no reassurances that the are no bad hats amongst the police.
So, please, all those of you who are worried for Teresa Kok and RPK and the Hindraf 5. Don’t worry. They are probably in the ‘safest‘ place in Malaysia. So safe that nobody knows how they are faring and what is happening to them. And the manner that they were taken? Oh well, sure it is dramatic but then, if not, it won’t be good material for one of those Kisah Benar shows…
You know…this phrase…
“We have heard nothing so far. I want to know where my daughter is. I want to know if she is alive or dead?” said Kok, who was present at the DAP headquarters in Petaling Jaya today.
Really brings to mind one of those alien abductions programmes. Perhaps some ultra-intelligent person may give the excuse that the sudden abduction of Teresa Kok is to protect her from even worst alien abductions?
You never know. Just saying.
This whole atmosphere of fear they have created so far really reminds me of a short story I wrote way back in secondary school about a rabid dog that was cornered. Not having any way out, it attacked anyone in sight to get itself out of the corner. In this case, it is a lot of rabid dogs. Perhaps it is time that we get some good vets in to treat rabies.
A way to detect rabies is to notice the eyes, the mouth and the ‘actions’. If the eyes are red, the mouth foaming and the actions are worse than a ‘tin kow lin ko fai’ (Cantonese: translated to loosely mean – crazy dog simply bark), then it is certified that the sufferer has rabies.
Remember to go for your anti-rabies shots, just to be on the safe side.
