Amidst all this hoo-ha about yoga and its ancient links to Hinduism and all those crap that goes with it including morons and such…it (referring to the yoga and Hindu links, not those morons and idiots) really reminded me of another Indian practise / literature that is equally well-known as yoga – the Kama Sutra.
If you have never heard of it..err..what planet do you come from again?
Now, Kama Sutra is quite, quite ancient and was written in Sanskrit by Vatsyayana. It is probably the oldest and part of a group of text of the Kama Shastra.
According to Wikipedia:
Traditionally, the first transmission of Kama Shastra or “Discipline of Kama” is attributed to Nandi the sacred bull, Shiva‘s doorkeeper, who was moved to sacred utterance by overhearing the lovemaking of the god and his wife Parvati and later recorded his utterances for the benefit of mankind.
So, yep, The Kama Sutra is obviously linked to Hinduism. The literature (now translated and widely known and widely misinterpreted too) comprises mainly content on love and sex but it is also about life. It also taught about the four main goals of life (under Hinduism) namely:
1) Dharma: Virtuous living
2) Artha: Material prosperity
3) Kama: Aesthetic and erotic pleasure
4) Moksha: Liberation
And now, let’s get to the interesting part…the sex part… the Kama Sutra is widely known for it’s ‘recommended’ sexual positions but it has way more than that. It also has advice on the type of embraces, kisses, etc. It also has chapters on marriage and on wives.
Sounds like a sex manual for men, eh?
Oh well, anyway, looks like the Kama Sutra (and the sexual positions it ‘teaches) is and should be off-limits to some people too. And no, not because it is full of colourful pictures of couples in various sexual positions. If you happen to find an unabridged translated version of it, you will find that it is full of words accompanied by plain drawings for only one small section. Trust me, I know. I’ve fallen asleep trying to read one…
Since the Kama Sutra is directly linked to Hinduism, it could possibly lead people to Hinduism. This means trying out all those sexual positions in the Kama Sutra could also lead to Hinduism.
Next time you wanna try the lotus position or any other Kama Sutra-linked position, think twice. It is linked to Hinduism. Might just as well stick to the missionary position. All those different positions are obviously meant for Hindus and those who don’t mind practising advices linked to Hinduism.
Just saying.
Do note: I don’t have anything against Hinduism nor do I bother much about whether it is linked to Hindusim or any other religion. Heck, those are pretty interesting positions, I tell you. So I’ll try out all those sexual positions if I want to, regardless.

caravanserai: ahhh…but not everyone can study this ancient text. Only for those whose religion are not against it, you know….
If a person wants to enjoy the fullest meaning of sex, one has to open one’s mind to understand it. Religion(s) shouldnt be a cause of lovers inadequacy. Learn to excel in this sport. I believe every lover or couple worth their acts should learn to enjoy the bliss God make for His children. God can’t tell personally so it is through others that information could be shared and recorded.
caravanserai: it is true what you say but if a form of exercise such as yoga could be termed as against some religion, what more the kama sutra which is ALSO based on Hinduism? There are also those who thinks of sex as dirty and would probably say kama sutra belonged in the porno category!
