Earn money online tips

If you are serious about earning money online, then you should look at it as work, not merely to have fun. While many bloggers do it for fun, quite a few wants to do it for money. And of course, there are those who are like me who would want to do it for fun and at the same time earn some online income.

Now, to blog for money is no simple matter. There are quite a few options for you to choose and one of the easiest and also the hardest is to earn it through Google Adsense. Since this is how I earn most of my online income, I will be discussing this at length compared to other methods.

What is Google Adsense?

It is the ads you place on your site such as the ones you see on top and on my side bar. These ads are by advertisers who pay Google to place ads and once you install the codes in your site, Google will display the ads on your side.

How do you earn money from Google Adsense?

The advertisers pay Google by the number of clicks on their ads. So, Google pay us a percentage, like a commission, for each click on the ads that are on your site. For example, if you come here and saw an ad for ‘Earn $5,000 in a week’ and click on it, then I get paid for that click.

How much do Google pay for each click?

The amount usually varies. Some ads could pay up to USD1 per click while some could only be USD0.01 per click. We do not really know how Google calculate the amount paid but the best way to get higher paying clicks is to get more real clicks and not ‘fake’ clicks.

What’s the difference between genuine clicks and ‘fake’ clicks?

Genuine clicks are when a blog reader came to your site and then saw an ad that interest him and then he clicks on it and then continue on to read the ad. This is real clicks because he is genuinely interested in the ad. But if it is someone, say a friend, who comes to your site and then click on the ad because he wants to ‘help’ you, then it is fake clicks. It’s what Google would call click fraud. If Google finds out it’s click fraud, then they will ban you. If you had done it very cleverly and were not found out, over a long period of time, Google will somehow have ‘smart priced’ your site. This means, they will usually assign the cheapest ads (the USD0.01 per click ones) to your site so all the clicks you will get are very lowly priced.

How do I get blog readers to click on my ads genuinely?

This is the hard part. A lot of earn money online gurus always advice to give great content and draw in more traffic. I am no great big earn money online guru but I find that the amount of traffic does not really matter if you are not getting any clicks at all. The way to get genuine clicks is to drive targeted traffic to your site with the right keywords. This means, like this post, if it’s about earn money online, I would want readers to have searched for ‘earn money online’ and then found my site. The possibility of them clicking on my ads are higher than those who regularly come here to read my blog because they are looking for something and they may find it in the ads.

Does it matter where I place my Google Ads?

Yes. It matters. A LOT. If you place your ads on the wrong position, you will rarely get any clicks but if it’s in a prominent place, you will find that you get more clicks. The more common placing is always at the top, below the title of the post or before the title of the post or like this post, somewhere near the top of the post. However, it really depends on what topic you are blogging about and where your reader’s attention may be when they first click onto your site. So, to find out which placing works best for your site, you will need to experiment with different placings and see which ones get the highest clicks.

Can one really earn a lot from Google Adsense?

Yes. Trust me, I have friends who are earning thousands just from Google Adsense and although I am not there yet, I hope to reach that level one day.

But I am not even earning enough on Google Adsense to withdraw from it…

That’s why I said it is also one of the hardest way to earn money online. This is because you really need to get targeted traffic based on keywords to get the clicks you will need to earn that kind of money.One of the best ways is to set up as many websites as possible and each website will need to target a certain number of keywords. It is important that all your websites get the traffic mainly through the SERPs and you will need to use SEO a lot too. The more targeted organic traffic you get the higher possibility of clicks on ads you will get.

So, why is it easy to earn from Google Adsense?

Once you have set up a great working system to draw targeted traffic to your sites, you pretty much don’t have to do anything else but sit there and wait for the clicks to earn you money. But first, you will have to work hard to get more targeted traffic to your site.

How to get targeted traffic to my sites?

This is a very loaded question. There are many ways about it and as I’ve mentioned before, one of it is to do loads of linkbuilding to your sites with the targeted keywords. You will want the SERPs to identify your site as related to the keyword. For example, I set up an Earn Money Online site. I will want to have a lot of links from other earn money online sites to my site. I will also want to use a lot of SEO with the keyword ‘Earn Money Online’ on it so that the SERPS identify my site as an earn money online site. And then I continue to work to get more links, to get my site ranked and to get my site being one of the top ten sites when someone search for the words ‘earn money online’. So, if I successfully do that, then I will be able to get a lot of organic traffic of people looking for ways to ‘earn money online’ whereby most of them are highly likely to click on the ads in my site.

What about other easier ways to earn money online?

There is no easier LEGITIMATE way.

Any other way involve work. If you want to try writing paid posts, you will first need a high ranking site to get loads of opportunities. Nowadays, opportunities are pretty slow and many are paying very little for the paid posts. Also, Google seemed to hate paid posts. If they find out that you are doing paid posts, your Pagerank may suffer.

There is also earning money through affiliates programs and these also involve work. You will need to choose your products wisely and then find a way to sell the products so that you earn commissions for the sale. If you think it’s not easy to get clicks on your ads which does not cost your readers anything, then think how hard it is to get readers to buy a product that you recommend.

So, in short, there is no such thing as easy money. Earning money online involved a lot of work and it is just like any job in which you need to put in the hours and the energy to make it work.
