I don’t know about you but everytime I hear that cheesy, gimmicky, over-used slogan, I have this sudden urge to bash someone’s head. TEN times over.
Now, I don’t have anything against the concept. Heck, the idea of promoting Malaysian-ism instead of sanctioned racism is very good. In fact, I’d say it is downright GREAT for the country as a whole. BUT. From what I can see, it is pretty much used for PR purposes. That’s PR for public relations, not Pakatan Rakyat, mind you.
If the powers that be is all so gung-ho about promoting Malaysian-ism instead of focusing on racial division, then why is it that there are still people being left behind merely because of their race and religion? Why is there a need for the so-called supreme race to always air out how they’ve been victimised by other races when it is the other way around? Why is there a need for any special treatment for certain people based on their race and not their needs?
You call that 1Malaysia? I call that bullcrap!
And what really riles me up are the way the government are treating the Orang Asli, the indigenous people, the ORIGINAL Malaysians. The REAL bumiputras. Recently, I was in contact with some people who work with some of these Orang Asli and I am appalled at the way they were treated by the government people.
Do you know that the Orang Asli were given jobs at government-sponsored plantations and were only paid RM250 every THREE months?
Do you know that the Orang Asli were discriminated against and bullied just because some of them are not very educated and people took advantage of that?
Do you know that the government never even bothered to ensure that they have a better living standards or to provide them with an avenue or access to education?
And worse of all, some companies even took advantage of them by paying them worse than they pay foreigners. They were not given Socso or EPF and there was no such thing as minimum pay too. If you say why there were no complaints by them if they were so mistreated, well, they are mostly non-confrontational people. They are shy and all they want is to live peacefully with a source of income. So, they don’t create trouble and let it be.
These are the people living on the fringes of poverty and they are our original bumiputras. Umnoputras are not the orignial people of this land. And yet, it would seem all the benefits and wealth and whatnot are ending up with the Umnoputras.
And here we are, everyone spouting the word 1Malaysia as if it’s some magic spell that will magically unite Malaysians and make everyone see beyond racial differences and skin colours.
HAH.
How is that possible when the Umnoputras insists on playing up this racial issue by harping on and on about how the Malays are being left out because of the successes of the Chinese or the Indians or any other race for that matter?
Do they even think that we of the other races never even got a modicum of special treatment or privileges? Whenever there is a quota for anything, the Malays get 60% and above while the balance are distributed to the other races. So, who are the ones being left out? And they are blaming the other races for doing better than them. Where’s the logic in that?
I work hard for my success and so, I am to be blamed because the other fella didn’t work hard to succeed?
Just think about it. A majority of the population are Malays. A majority of the civil servants are Malays. The top political leaders in the country are Malays. Our PM is Malay. Major listed companies have Malay directors. And yet, how can all the rest of us, the minorities, manage to oppress the majority?
And this ridiculous 1Malaysia concept, WTF does it really mean anyway?
Does it mean everyone will be treated as Malaysians and nothing else? Nope, not as far as I can see.
Does it mean everyone will be treated based on their merits and not other preconceived conditions based on skin colour and such? Nope.
Does it mean the quota will only apply for the poverty-stricken and the underprivileged like the disabled? Nope.
Does it mean the government will see people based on their abilities, their merits and not their skintone? Nope.
So, WTF is 1Malaysia?
Nothing but a bunch of public relations talk to appease the general public, and yes, I will say it again. It is nothing but a cheesy, meaningless slogan spouted everrywhere with no real meaning to it.
So, 1Malaysia my arse.
The slogan will only be meaningfull if…
Each and every single Malaysian is treated equally and fairly like a Malaysian and nothing else.
Government forms do not have the column to state your race.
We are all termed as Malaysians and not Malay, Chinese, Indian, Iban, etc…
BN is just one party and do not need to have separate parties to concentrate on separate races.
BN, especially the Umnoputras, do not always harp on racial issues and blame the other races for their failings.
1Malaysia is a good concept ONLY if it’s practised. Lets stop with the meaningless spouting of the slogan and really work on it, shall we?

1Malaysia
Oh the fools jumping with joy!
Never find out its true meaning
The sloganic magic bewitching souls
The facade of its light
The shadows hide the easy preys
Believing it wholeheartedly
When the truth is
“A is Malay 1”
The leaders never flow
Each has its own idea
Umno youth leader opposite direction
DPM harping the old regime
PM the truth and honesty
Other leaders race and race
The leopard can’t change its spot
The charade going on in full supplies
Forms, quotas, discounts, benefits
They still say it isn’t enough
The greedy people only change wil make them realize
This country isn’t for a race and a religion
It is meant for all to enjoy our diversity and cultures
Religions and belief earning our rights on fair deals
The ground is too hard
Changing will be a giant effort
The spider web entangles every notch
It is time to bury it all
The stitches of life
In our hands we better decide
Let GE13 be the Waterloo
Where we will stand
For us and the generation after
