It is so VERY, VERY annoying when….
People reach out and rub your belly as if they have all the right in the world to do just that ALL BECAUSE you have a baby inside it.
Well, excuse me. Since when does a pregnant belly makes it okay for you to touch it? Let’s see. Under normal circumstances, would you reach out and touch someone’s stomach for no reason and start rubbing it?
Nope.
So, why is it that when you come across a heavily pregnant woman whom you barely know, or even someone you know quite well, and you decide that it is just alright to reach out and start rubbing her belly?
Why? Was there a sign that said ‘rub my belly now’ stuck on her stomach?
Why is it that a pregnant belly almost always become ‘public property’ and many people, especially women, felt that it is just peachy keen and absolutely normal for them to rub the pregnant woman’s stomach?
WTF.
Now that I am waddling more than walking because of the huge big blimp and extra weight all around me, all I DON’T need is a bevy of women reaching out to rub my belly. And no, you won’t be able to touch the baby by doing this because the baby is INSIDE my belly, INSIDE my womb and INSIDE a layer of placenta. Geddit?
Even if you stick your hand inside my vagina, you won’t be able to touch the baby!
WTF. What’s so nice about rubbing some pregnant woman’s belly? It’s one thing if I invited you to touch my belly (which I will NEVER, EVER do unless you are my husband or son), but quite another when you do it while talking to me. Please, keep your hands to yourself.
How’d you feel if I suddenly reach out and start rubbing your stomach and commenting on how big it is,how round it is, how flabby it is, how soft it is, etc?
Damn. I seem to have mellowed quite a bit too in this pregnancy. I remember snapping at anyone who dared come near me in my previous pregnancy but this one, I just ignore and tolerate the pats, the rubbing, the irritating ‘when are you due’ question which I get on a daily basis.
Blardy hell. Just because I am pregnant does not mean you have to ask me about my pregnancy. You can always talk about other things. Like the weather. Or how the stupid government sucks. Or how the lousy Streamyx sucks. Or how everything sucks. Whatever.
So, for the uninitiated, here are some topics you can discuss with a pregnant woman without needing to ask her about her due date, the sex of her baby, her sex life, her big belly, etc.
1. Looks like rainy weather is here again… Lame, but at least better than ‘when are you due?’
2. The damn government cheated us again on….everyone loves putting down the government, even pregnant women
3. I heard the economic situation has improved but I think….you don’t have to be an economist to know about the prices of things and whether your second cousin twice removed lost his job due to retrenchment or not
4. Wah-lau, that *insert the policitian in bad light of the day* is really….political talk seemed to be an in thing and it is so darn fun putting down some lousy politician or other anyway.
5. Do you know, I heard that….gossip about someone you both know is also another favourite topic amongst women, pregnant or not.
6. My damn internet connection is so slow, Streamyx is getting from bad to worse…EVERYONE suffers from the inferior Streamyx internet connection.
7. My inlaws are so darn…almost all married people can’t stand their inlaws and what better way to release these frustrations than to complain and share about their irritating behaviors with others?
8. I reached level XX on my Facebook minigame, do you….before you go into this, make sure the pregnant woman in question even have a Facebook account, though most people are on Facebook now, not everyone has an account or knows how to use it.
9. I just heard that there’s a sale over at…which woman doesn’t like to hear about a sale, eh?
10. My job sucks, my boss is so….complaining about your job is STILL better than focusing on the pregnant woman’s belly.
