If your answer is sharks then you are WRONG, WRONG, WRONG.

Do you know that because of the so-called delicacy, shark’s fin soup, about 70 million sharks are killed each year? And how many humans were killed by sharks in a year? Barely enough to make any statistics. There were only 921 shark attacks on humans between the year 1580 and 2008 in the US where shark attacks are more ‘common’. That’s like an average of 2 humans per year. Now, compare that with how many sharks we humans kill per year. You still think sharks are more dangerous?

Although finning (the process of cutting off the shark’s fins and then throwing the sharks back into the sea to drown) is banned, it is still being done illegally because of the high demand for shark’s fin to make the delicacy.

That is why I have personally banned eating shark’s fin. It is cruel. And besides, there is no health benefits to eating shark’s fin soup. Due to the pollution in the sea, sharks contain high mercury and consuming shark meat means you are poisoning yourself with the mercury found in shark meat / fins. Why poison ourselves while condoning finning and the extinction of sharks?

Do you know about 20 species of sharks are on the verge of extinction due to finning and pollution (all caused by humans)? And are humans going extinct? Nope (although I wouldn’t mind some types of humans to go extinct).

However, it seems that a lot of people seem to think that sharks are dangerous, just because of the movie ‘Jaws’. It is amazing how a fictional movie can influence people into thinking that sharks kill humans. Don’t forget, the shark attacks are mostly accidental because they thought the humans are seals (especially surfers). They don’t do it intentionally but humans intentionally catch sharks, chop off their fins and then throw them back into the sea. It is just like someone catching humans, chop off their arms and then throw them into the sea to drown.

I am not going to write more about this and let this video clip do all the ‘talking’ about how dangerous we humans are to sharks and not the other way around.
