Amidst all this hype over the Permatang Pauh by-election, it looks like this year’s Merdeka celebrations had taken a back seat.
Think about it. The media are too busy with political news and all. Many people are talking about Anwar Ibrahim’s bid to get back into parliament which he succeeded.

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim wins big with a total 31,195 votes beating Datuk Arif Shah Omar Shah, who garnered 15,524 votes, while the unknown Akim fella, Hanafi Hamat wasted his RM15,000 deposit when he only got 92 votes.

Especially by empty promises and temporary goodies given out now, not out of sincerity but as a subtle form of bribery.
More election goodies rolled in for the people of Permatang Pauh on the fourth day of the by-election campaign. But this time it was not from Barisan Nasional (BN) alone.
