Posts Tagged “Blogging for money”

I joined Nuffnang in April this year and started with ads in my old blog (which I started in March) and then I started this blog in May.

The traffic to my blog is not certain, sometimes it is quite high while sometimes like a darn dead ‘town’ with only a piddly few hanging around.

So, I am pleasantly surprised to find that I am actually making some money from Nuffnang and Google Adsense. Not bad lar.

Nah, see for yourself!

nuffnang income

Saw the figure circled in red? Yep, it is RM288.44 accumulated since April. And the total did not even take into account an advertorial I did, yet.

Yep, we can make money blogging alright just as so many other pro-bloggers have insisted all this time. But it ain’t easy at all. However, it is not so easy to reach their levels to earn major big bucks because it definitely involve a lot of hard work and determination and of course, a pinch of luck!

Me? I am far from being a pro-blogger. I am merely a regular blogger eking some extra income to pay for this blog and some other expenses. Well, that’s my goal for now before I set higher goals. No need to be greedy so fast…

And this is not any addiction, mind you. A very serious one. You see, it is because of this addiction that rendered me practically useless and a total nervous wreck if I do not feed my addiction. I don’t only get shaky hands, I get itchy trembling fingers, my eyes starts to wander and my mind gone to the wonderful place of my addiction.

Sigh..it is no use.

I have tried searching for a cure.

I tried ignoring it and go cold turkey but I failed miserably.

Then I tried to overdose myself with my addiction but it made it worse!

I tried taking a break but it gave me more time to think about it.

I tried new hobbies but it also reminded me of it.

Whatever I do, my first thought would be my addiction.

Wherever I go, I think about my addiction.

So, what am I addicted to?

snarky barky

Blogging, of course!

Ever since I started blogging with a vengeance in late March this year, I find that I am as hooked as most Malaysians are to the current sensational news of liwat meliwat. And nope, blogging is not new to me.

I dabbled in a few blogs using the free platforms of Multiply, Friendster, Blogger and Wordpress for awhile some years back. However, I somehow did not catch the blogging bug. Perhaps nothing much to gripe about at that time or perhaps, I didn’t have easy and ready access to internet connection at work and at home.

Whatever it is, if I had stuck to it and really do keep those blogs regular then, I am sure I am by now a pro-blogger (heh, a girl is always allowed to dream BIG mah!!). Sadly… I am now merely an online griper with aspirations to be a pro-blogger, hopefully, somehow…but mainly using this blog as an online diary.

Heck, it would definitely be useful for when I am, say, 90 years old and I need to refer back to say, my tips for ‘sex for 101 days‘ and I can do it with the click of a mouse or whatever we will be using by then.

But I digress….

Now, NO THANKS to Suckymyx lousy internet speed I sometimes get to blog more often while sometimes, it takes me FIVE blardy hours just to log in. It is those times of SNAILPACE internet speed that I feel all twitchy and nervous and fidgety and cursing and annoyed and irritated and cussing no end at Stinkymyx because I COULD NOT BLOG!

Darn it, I think I need to join a support group. Anyone knows where is the nearest chapter of Bloggerholics Anonymous?

Have you heard of the top secret project Trafford by Nuffnang?

Well, the cat is already out of the bag and it’s not a secret project anymore. It is a mission to create the most foolproof plan (especially for Nuffnangers) to grab the 30 free tickets to watch a match at Old Trafford by winning the Mister Potato contest. Or simply to put the limelight on Mister Potato and its generosity in giving away these 30 tickets to Old Trafford in its upcoming contest for all chip lovers.

Not any chip lovers, mind you, only Mister Potato chip lovers, please.

Now, before taking up the challenge of becoming one of the bloggers in this project, I have never heard of Old Trafford. Sad and shocking, but true. I am football illiterate, I admit it. So, as I normally do for some of the ‘more serious’ topics I blog about, I did some digging and found out some facts about Old Trafford.

  • Its nickname is Theatre of Dreams ahhh….yes, the dreams of sportsmen and sports lovers…
  • It’s an all-seater stadium no standing up here!
  • It is located at Trafford, Greater Manchester, England duh…obviously
  • It is the home of Manchested United F.C. ok, ok, you people can start throwing used paper cups and popcorn at me (but no rotten eggs please, I just washed my hair) for not knowing Old Trafford when it is the home of ManU!
  • It has the capacity of over 76,000 hey, so the lucky 30 to win the tickets will be sitting amongst 75,970 others there.
  • It was built in 1909 wow, that explains the ‘old’ in Old Trafford (however, that’s not why the stadium is called Old Trafford, the location itself is called Old Trafford)
  • It was not only meant for football the stadium was used by American soldiers for baseball during WW1 and concerts were also performed there by Bon Jovi, Genesis, Bruce Springsteen, etc

Okay, Old Trafford trivia time over.

So what is the deal with the not-so-secret-anymore project Trafford over at Nuffnang? It’s a project involving 40 specially selected bloggers - of whom, I am one of them, ahem - and the 40 are divided into 8 groups of 5 bloggers. Each team will have leaders to show the bloggers the way and make sure they do not stray…from gorging on Mister Potato and dreaming of Old Trafford…

Each team will work together to come up with ideas and plans collectively to spread the good word about Mister Potato’s contest and dangle the grand prize of 30 tickets to Old Trafford to all and sundry (at least through our blogs) or to create a devious scheme to win the tickets to ourselves…muahahahaha…

I am in Team H and my partners in crime chips are:

1. Debra - Date and Dine

Deb Fong

2. Kevin Chan - Hamlet’s Hero

3. Satkuru

If by now, you are very curious about how to win the Old Trafford tickets and itching to get there and watch a football match, stay tuned to this blog and the blogs of my partners in crime chips and also our team leaders for more information and updates.

Remember, Old Trafford is the Theatre of Dreams and this might just be a wonderful dream for you! Feel free to ask me (or any of my partners / leaders) anything at all about this Old Trafford contest if you want to fulfil your dreams of going to Old Trafford.
