In recent months, we’ve been reading a lot about the melamine-laced milk products in China and this has caused quite a scare here with people avoiding all China products just to be on the safe side.

Now, looks like even their eggs are contaminated. Luckily most of our eggs and poultry are bred locally BUT don’t forget, they use these contaminated eggs to make cookies, cakes, snacks, etc. So, these products could be contaminated too.

So, we all just stay away from China products. Safe, right? Not really. Because locally, we do not even know how safe our local productions are. We do not have any really strict standards and quality checks here. Remember those contaminated local biscuits that have already being withdrawn from the market?

The moral of the story here is…don’t eat processed food! Simple as that. Go for natural foods like vegetables and fruits and nuts. No, wait. These could be contaminated too. It may contain pesticides and chemicals to keep away pests and keep it fresher.

Also, when you next go tar pau some food from a hawker stall or any food outlet and the food comes in a polystyrene container (commonly called Styrofoam but Styrofoam is a trademarked material WHICH DOES NOT include food container so it has been wrongly used to name those white foam containers).

Polystyrene containers are equally poisonous and is also bad for the environment

Polystyrene containers are equally poisonous and is also bad for the environment

Do stop and think. You are putting yourself at risk from poisoning yourself. Slowly. Bit by tiny bit. Why? Read on…

There is concern about the trace presence of polystyrene’s production chemicals in the final plastic product, most of which are toxic if not removed. For instance benzene, which is used to produce ethylbenzene for styrene, is a known carcinogen. As well, unpolymerized styrene may pose health risks.

- Wikipedia

See? We are packing HOT food in a container that is made of toxic material ALL THE TIME. And these toxic chemicals probably leech onto the food due to the heat and then we eat it.

Sure, we don’t die immediately from it. We won’t even notice a thing. But a few years of ingesting this known carcinogen in our foods, we may develop cancer and then we wonder why.

Why else do you think there are so many people dying of cancer in this age and time? This is what happens when you ingest too much styrene after storing hot, oily food in polystyrene containers:

Studies suggest that styrene mimics estrogen in the body and can therefore disrupt normal hormone functions, possibly contributing to thyroid problems, menstrual irregularities, and other hormone-related problems, as well as breast cancer and prostate cancer. The estrogenicity of styrene is thought to be comparable to that of Bisphenol A, another potent estrogen mimic from the world of plastics.

Talk about turning into plastic and I don’t even mean plastic surgery! You want to know more about polystyrene containers, check out this site: Grinning Planet.

It is the same when the food is packed into plastic bags and plastic containers. The heat would have caused some of the chemicals to transfer into the food and then, we eat it.

But I don’t see people avoiding packing food in plastic bags, plastic containers and polystyrene containers the way they avoid China products.

Why?

Maybe we just preferred to die slowly and while we are at it, kill the planet with these environmental hazards.

FYI: plastic and polystyrene are not biodegradable which means it will be here FOREVER to pollute the earth and if burnt, emits noxious, poisonous gases which will further damage the ozone layer.

The folly of men is to burn and destroy the Earth without caring and one day, Armageddon shall be upon us thanks to men’s folly, and not due to the act of any divine being.

Not that I am encouraging people to keep lions as pets illegally (or legally).

When my dog’s vet told me about how he used to have a pet lion and how it is the best pet he had ever had, I found it quite hard to imagine.

According to the vet, the lion, that he adopted from the circus when it was just a cub, was very affectionate and fiercely loyal. In his own words:

“It is better than having a dog or a cat. It is so intelligent and affectionate, it is hard to describe it,”

The vet had to give up the lion when it became too big (and too expensive) so now the lion is in Taiping Zoo. However, till now, whenever the vet goes over to visit, the lion would remember him and greet him, much like a dog greeting its owner.

Still, I could not imagine how such a wild animal could be affectionate and be better than dogs and cats. Until I saw Christian the Lion video clip which was making the rounds through emails and have received millions of hits in You Tube.

I am sure by now, anyone who’s connected to the internet would have seen the highly popular clip about Christian the Lion. It was really an amazing story and I am sure, many people are quite sceptical of the truth of the story and whether the lion really do remember his ‘adopted’ family or the video was pre-fabricated.

You haven’t seen it? Where have you been? Mars? Well, never mind. Anyway, here’s the Christian the Lion clip that has been making the rounds:

I don’t know about you but each time I watch it, it makes me want to cry! And no, apparently it is not pre-fabricated. It is not a Hollywood set-up. It is the real thing! The Today Show interviewed the two men in this video:

And if you want to know more about Christian the Lion, check out more about his story here.

This prove that animals have feelings and they will remember till the end those who protected and cared for them. I just don’t understand how some people could be so cruel to animals. People like that should be shot or better still, treated the same way they treat animals.

Now excuse me while I go bawl my eyes out. Watching those darn videos of Christian the Lion really do get to me, especially teamed with that song!

Human beings are destined for extinction. The signs are all there…**enter scary instrumental music**

There are people swearing at God in the name of God over stupid matters that God does not even want to know about.

There are people banging their heads against the wall over things not in their control.

There are people becoming too anal about certain things when there is a larger picture to look at.

Then there are the bombs and weapons of mass destructions that were there and then not there.

And seriously…

There are the senseless killings of animals and let’s not forget how some monsters are left to roam the streets to prey on innocents.

Then there are the millions of air, water, earth, everything polluting devices being produced each day to kill the earth faster.

So, in the end, when there really is an Apocalypse, humans will all be destroyed and one main species will survive it all. I swear (but not on any Holy book or any God’s name) that this species is so hardy that it is practically immortal.

What is it?

cockroach They will outlive us ALL at the rate we are going

Yep, your friendly household cockroach and its gadzillions of offsprings.

If anything, I really hate this bug. With a vehemence. And no, I do not jump up on chairs and screech at the sight of a cockroach. I will turn into this zealous cockroach-hunter and pick up something solid and start chasing after it to kill it. That’s the only way to kill it.

No aerosols for me because I do not believe in spraying poison in the air in my house just to kill a roach. No point poisoning myself and my family over a stupid roach.

Yep, a crushed roach is the way to kill cockroaches although it is not easy to crush them to smithereens. Trust me. I tried. They must have some sorta ‘hit-proof’ shield or something!

So, yes, these pesky, smelly, disgusting roaches will definitely survive anything (go watch Wall-E) since they’ve been around since the dinosaur age. And yes, according to some scientific research, the cockroach can withstand radiation dunnohowmanymillion times more than humans.

You wanna be immortal (okay, almost immortal) go be a cockroach. Just make sure you stay outta my way and I won’t crush you.
